Fredette Frenzy

I have been at Westridge for four weeks. Jimmer has been mentioned at least once every day I've been there. When the full size Jimmer was in the paper, we had no choice--we had to hang him up (and I had the honor of gluing him together). Jimmer finds his way into spelling sentences and vocabulary books in my classroom. My students are sooooo Jimmered.

Yesterday when I took the kids to PE, I heard the teacher say she'd already seen 11 Jimmers that day. It was only 11:15. (And three came from my class).

After school, they turned the BYU fight song over the loud speaker. There was mass chaos: kids running down the hall, screaming, singing, jumping, pushing... You think BYU is crazy?

Go for a run

It is 64 degrees. But don't worry, Provo won't let us down... it's supposed to snow tomorrow morning. Why would I even begin to hope for spring in March?

But I can't complain. Today was lovely.

Ernest Shackleton

Tomorrow we will be reading about Ernest Shackleton. His goal was to be the first explorer to travel 1,500 miles across Antarctica. Following is an advertisement he put in the London newspaper:

"MEN WANTED: For hazardous journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success. Sir Ernest Shackleton."

No thank you, Shackleton, I think I will pass.

Chewing Disease

I have a chewing disease. It has not been diagnosed by a doctor, but it has been diagnosed by my younger brother, Collin. I hate Hate HATE the sound of chewing. It sends an uncontrollable rage throughout my body. I literally tense up and get the chills. Bananas, chips, drinking milk--the texture doesn't matter (although those are some of the worst ones I can think of).

I know what you are thinking: you make chewing sounds yourself. That doesn't bother me. If someone is purposely chewing loud, that doesn't matter either. What a strange disease...

But, I must say, I have done an exceptional job holding it in for the past long while.
